Traditional pizza base dough

My go to dough for vegan pizza bases. This results in a beautiful stretchy dough which is light and airy.

  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 tsp salt


  • 3/4 cup luke warm water
  • 2.5 tsp active yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar coconut or normal
  • 2 tbsp olive oil


  • In a bowl, add the flour and salt. 
  • In a measuring cut, add the yeast and sugar to your luke warm water. Set aside for 5 minutes.
  • Once the yeast has foamed on top, add the oil and then stir into the flour mix. 
  • Knead for 4-5 minutes until a ball forms. 
  • Place back into the bowl, cover with a towel and put in a warm place. 
  • After 40 minutes check to see if your dough has risen. 
  • Pre heat oven to 350F or 200C
  • Flour a counter top and knead your dough again. 
  • Roll out to desired thickness and place on baking tray. 
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Add your pizza toppings and bake for a further 15-20 minutes or until toppings are ready.
