There is something so satisfying about a delicious breakfast. I very rarely have a full on cooked breakfast because it makes me feel a little on the heavier side. I prefer something light and filling to get my day started and smoothie bowls do just that for me. This blueberry granola smoothie bowl is not only aesthetically appealing, it’s also deliciously satisfying and did I mention simple to make?
Whats the difference between a smoothie and a smoothie bowl?
Well in case you haven’t guessed it, a smoothie bowl is a slightly thicker smoothie that’s eaten from a bowl. Smoothie bowls are unbelievably easy to make and it’s a fun way to add extra fruit and toppings to your breakfast if you want to have something to chew on. While smoothies are great and functional for on the go meals or a quick pick me up, smoothie bowls allow you to enjoy a variety of crunchy toppings and give you some exciting textures and tastes to chew on.
Should I buy my berries organic?
Berries fall under the category of the dirty dozen when it comes to buying organic vs conventional. The dirty dozen is a list of produce which is said to contain higher pesticide levels within the foods. The skin of the produce easily absorbs the pesticides used in farming and thus they contain higher amounts of pesticides. There is so much debate around this topic I would rather focus on what’s a more important concern and that is, are you eating enough fruit and veggies? It’s more important.
If you eat vegetables and fruits daily in high amounts, well then I would suggest eating more organic. I’m lucky for one being able to find organic lettuce, broccoli, berries, apples and tomatoes. Other produce varies and sometimes I skip it if I feel the price tag is a bit steep. It’s all about what works for you and your pocket.
